What would Oppo Do?

a neighbor has one of these. the lower cladding had been replaced with black body work giving it almost a 2-tone paint job look and the exhaust has either been replaced with that of a lawn mower or is just missing all together. I’ve never talked to these people before and by looking at their property, I don’t think I really want to. I confronted a different neighbor a year or so ago about another issue and it didn’t go well and I really don’t feel like making enemies with another. The problem that I have is the guy (or girl i dunno) leaves for work and it wakes me up every day at 5 a.m. This car is just obnoxious. It sounds like a manual and they hold the gear way out til red line just to make sure everyone has heard them. Its obnoxious and even more so when it wakes up my girls and they think 5a.m. is a cool time to start the day, or their exhausted and they cry about it. What would you guys do? My leading plan is to call the police (non911#) and ask for a patrol car to sit around until he passes but I don’t know if they can do anything? I was hoping disturbing the peace. Knocking on the door and asking for them to fix their car is a few options below ripping my eardrums out.

I dont think any PD is going to do anything like send a patrol car out there for that. Do you have inspection laws in your state or “excessive noise” regulations on cars? I would man up and go tell them to keep it down, or since they probably leave that toilet unlocked, flip up the back seat and smack the SRS/fuel cutoff module a few times and let them not be able to figure out why it wont start

Leave them a note on the car or in the mailbox, or if you have a neighborhood council or HOA bring it to them, then involve the police. There’s potentially an argument for disturbing the peace, violating noise ordinances (especially before 7AM), the vehicle in violation of local or state laws, etc. They’re unlikely to post a car at a specific time or place, but if you give them the offender's address and a description of the vehicle they have more chances to resolve it.

Anonymous noise complaint is the best route. If that doesn’t work leave a nice note on their car asking to please try to leave quieter in the morning/fix the issue. Although the issue at hand was probably installed on purpose.

the one thing I have going for me with the local PD is I met a sergeant (i think that was his ranking which doesn’t mean much to me) his niece is marrying my cousin so I thought maybe I could go thru that connection. They honestly look like people who would not handle the situation well and would tell me to fuck off or just punch me in the face. I would like to stick a potoato in his exhaust (if it exists) but thats not going to fix the problem, and thats probably legaly worse than what hes doing. I’d really rather some1 else deal with it. When I asked the other neighbor to restrain his monster size ducks and keep them from shitting all over my driveway he told me to fuck off, killl the duck and put it on youtube. I really dont want part B of that.

Talk to the driver. Ask him why he feels the need to rev that shitbox up to redline every morning and wake everyone in the neighborhood up. Tell him if he doesn’t stop you’ll call the cops.

no HOA or anything. Ive actually seen cruisers sit a few houses up the street from me cuz people with blast down my street but they havnt been around in a while.

you need to figure out how to get the neighbors out of there I think. Don’t pull the PD angle out unless you have to - moreso because of you having a connection there. Save that shit for when you get a ticket. I would take a knock in the face to get shitty neighbors out of there
